Card collecting is a great kids' hobby: it teaches budgeting, patience and negotiation. It just needs a plan, because a 584,000 square foot floor is a lot for a nine-year-old.
Make it work
- ★Kids 12 and under get in free with a paying adult.
- ★Give each kid a fixed cash budget and let them spend it their way.
- ★Start in the dollar-box aisles — volume beats value for young collectors.
- ★Plan a two to three hour visit, not a full day.
- ★Autograph guests are the highlight. Check the signing schedule first.
Bring a small binder. Watching them fill it during the day is the part they remember.
